QUOTE(fishing4exotics @ Feb 19 2010, 08:53 PM) That didn't take too long to fatten it up. Nice pickup, Paul.
Thanks Perry, seems to have one of those stomachs that expands to huge proportions, like an Acestro type Cuda. It can eat a crazy amount of food at once and seems to metabolize it very quickly. QUOTE(Loubard @ Feb 20 2010, 04:45 AM) Awesome addition!
Thanks man QUOTE(bullfrog @ Feb 20 2010, 04:52 AM) Very cool looking fish.
Thanks...finally a fish with bigger teeth than a Lepidio QUOTE(Triggeraa @ Feb 20 2010, 09:29 AM) Looks great Paul. You need to be careful the tank is in a place were he will not be surprised and spooked. The large majority of ATF never make it to adulthood due to smashing their face on the tank walls. They also do not take to being moved from tank to tank when larger. You will need something this size or better when full grown. Thanks, Alex I've noticed that, doesn't like it when the lights first come on either. Reset timers to come on later in the day and go off early so it's more gradual from the sunlight that gets in this room. There is alot of algae on the end panes of the tank but I'm thinking maybe I should black them out completely. Had been looking at Tenecor stuff but it's just more then I want to spend on a tank...pretty sure I can build the tank and filter it for about half the price of buying one...have been reading that DIY 900g thread alot lately QUOTE(Jelly @ Feb 20 2010, 12:27 PM) Looking really good and appears to be feeding well. They do have a much more toothy smile than the Vits.
Thanks, yep, feeding great...his yawn is impressive, didn't realize their mouth opened that far. I think this fish is going to force me to actually learn how my camera works...no more taking 400 pics and keeping the best 2 or 3...he does not like the flash so I have to take a couple and then leave him alone for awhile. Mine is a similer size but has a very strong red tail colouring. Maybe this is one for a different thread.

I took the pictures on one of my many visits to his home. The vits were around 14-15". Here is his thread detailing his tank build. http://forums.waterwolves.com/index.php?sh...c=66900&hl=

QUOTE(FISHKING111 @ Feb 21 2010, 06:51 PM) ps. I have no comment here on this fish... I'm just sick and tied of telling Norbert "nice fish" QUOTE(Jelly @ Feb 22 2010, 05:18 AM) Apologues for the hijack Norbert.
No worries QUOTE(limz_777 @ Feb 22 2010, 07:32 AM) just wondering any of you atfs keepers ever use indian almond leaves in your set-up ?
I don't but the tank mine's in has alot of bogwood, the water is tea colored from the tannins.

QUOTE(Jelly @ Feb 26 2010, 12:20 PM) All ready looking like it's putting on some size.
It seems like it...too hard to get any kind of accurate measurement at this size...still spooky. I wonder how big he will be before he loses that spookyness? QUOTE(Triggeraa @ Feb 27 2010, 07:28 AM) He is going to be a beast. Makes me want to keep ATF again. Yep, I think so too you already have a beast and I think he would eat an ATF week 3 Snap! lol, what a messy eater

QUOTE(Scorponok @ Mar 5 2010, 03:17 AM) Thats' awesome growth rate. How'd get it to eat Hikari sticks? Needed to train or it just started eating them naturally?
I'm guessing by the end of next week (1 month) it will have grown a little over an inch, but that's eyeballing so... This fish was on feeders only at the LFS but as you can tell from the first pic or two it was starving. The process to get it on food sticks took maybe 4 hours. Tried silversides first, didn't want them until I hooked em up to some monofilament fishing line and got them 'swimming' then he ate them, once he'd eaten a couple little ones that way he started eating them when I threw them in, once he got used to me throwing things in he eventually tried one of the food sticks, once he tried one he ate until he looked ready to burst...they must taste pretty good because he seems to prefer them to silversides now....I'm glad because I don't like feeding silversides, they're messy and they stink He's also eating Omega One shrimp pellets, freezedried krill and chunks of market shrimp now but his staple food is the sticks.
