i set my 125 up last week i have some large pieces of wood in it. its growing funk on it in less than a week. white fuzzy crap. 2 different types of wood, it is growing faster on the one type of wood than the other. i have a royal pleco in my 55 that is a wood eating beast will it keep things under control or is this funk not good for it to eat? is there anything else i can put in there to control this growth?

ahhh, i threw a dozen roseys in it just for the hell of it and they are eating up the white fuzzy funk off the wood like its candy.

I think that mold will die off quickly. Is the tank newly cycled?

i filled with tap water new years day. by sunday the wood had growth all over it and every day there was more and growing. i have never seen anything like that. no light. everything was fresh. i do remember having a lot of funky stuff grow on wood but not this. it was kind of interesting. the roseys like it anyway.

There is a lack of good bacteria in the tank. Just leave the tank alone. Put the light on and let it set to cycle. As the tank comes into balance, the mold will disappear.
