I've got a nice Rapps male about 8" in a 75 with several corys, several tetras, growout grammode a convict beater fish, bushynose pleco and banjo cat. I have a chance to get a 5-6 inch definite female of Rapps stock to breed with him, so I'm looking for some advise on scenarios. I have two tanks available, the current 75 and a 55 that's presently empty. So here's the options,

A: Take everything out of the 75 except him, put her with him and have a divider ready, just in case.

B: Put her in the 55 and cycle him in and out of the 75 for breeding purposes, leaving the dithers in the 75 for him to take out his temper on.

thanks.

Option A. I had a pair of N. tetracanthus in a 240 community tank and the male killed the female.

Yikes! Thank you for that. I've been going back and forth just on the breeding aspect and I'm going to pass on it. I dislike crowding fish and while a 75 seems fairly reasonable for him and his tankmates currently, dividing it would make it seem too much like overcrowding to me.
