Looking for some cool fish that are good looking and can tolerate coldwater and that are pretty peacefull.

Any thought?

Chinese Highfin Sharks and Sturgeon come to mind for cold water fish.

For a pond? There really aren't any. I've kept tons of natives and many tropicals, in the pond when warm, and most are not pond friendly, meaning they look like crap from the top. Red devils and oscars will work Ok in the summer but for cold water, albino channel cats are about all I've found.

Golden or Blue Orfe make a nice contrast to Koi. Get to a good size and are fast, entertaining to watch against the slower moving Koi.

If your pond is large, I would concur w/ the Chinese high-fin loach/shark, Myxocyprinus asiaticus. They get large though, as attested to in this article:

Dojo loach or weatherfish, Misgurnis anguillicadatus, is another temperate water species:

I keep fathead minnows, Pimephales promelas, in my pond. They're commonly sold as "rosy reds" at LFS and are often used as feeders or bait fish.

In southern CA, you could also get away with some semi-tropical species like white cloud mountain minnows (Tanichthys albonubes), paradisefish (Macropodus opercularis), Buenos Aries tetras (Hemigrammus caudovittatus), or true Texas cichlids (Herichthys cyanoguttatus).
