Fantastic umbee! smile.gif I also have a soft spot for green terrors, once I eventually move my bichir community into a 125g, I plan on getting a breeding pair for my 55g.

That umbee is nice. I've still never had a male even with tiny breeding them right here in my area still no luck.

I know how you feel being he was my one male in 18 total. Even raising them in the 360 gal, they still ripped each other apart, and they must be the slowest juvenile growers I ever had.

Suprizingly not. I was expecting him to become aggressive after the foot mark, but not so. Very mellow, constantly begging for food.

Looking good roliva!

Yes, overall I've found umbees fairly slow growing. They do have their "growth spurts" but it takes about 3 years for them to hit 16 inches.

Others may have experienced different outcomes though (obviously due to different care regiments).

Green terrors are another favorite of mine! Yours is looking great too!

Haven't been on in awhile, but as always, your umbee is looking great...Mine is also a little passed the foot mark now. I keep trying to hold off on getting rid of him, but alas, I think I may have to if I can find someone local with a big enough tank sad.gif. (Wish he would stop growing until next summer when I graduate and can get a bigger tank, lol).

I definately remember your umbee Ole. He was definately a looker!

Who would have thought the smaller one in your pic below blossomed into a true beauty:
