Hey,

I just picked up a couple of aurantimaculata and they have seemed to have paired up. I am not overly experienced with Channa. So, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about breeding these guys?
I haven't found any info on breeding them, so I would assume they haven't been bred before?
Even if you could give me some info on breeding similar species.

Thank you,

Justin Morash

I know of one guy who has bred them. He tried for a long time by simulating their enviroment without success, so he gave up. He pretty much did not pay much attention to them for a while and he went on a trip for a week or so, when he came back they had bred and one of the parents was dead. Other than that I don't know of anyone else.

So he got to breed them again? I was told that one of the parents died and he was haveing trouble breeding them again. BTW, I am pretty sure we are talking about the same guy as I have talked to Christian about this guy and he was from Germany, plus he was at that time the only guy to have bred them. smile.gif

Hi,

he sold all the fry and the female which had breed the first time, this should be a new pair which he kept in a pond outside for a period..... i consider doing that in spring/summer, with my Barca too.
I think he is the only who bred them..... you are talking about M. Engemann....

Hi.........

Michael is a friend of mine (he lives about 30 km far from me)
He has done 2 breedings yet.........
Unfortunatly the first couple was in trouble ,so the male died!

I could give him my last aurantimaculata.....and he was lucky that they liked each other!

so the new couple was formed out of his old female and my male!

He has them in a garden pond during summer time!

They have a size of about 45cm ,now!

Cheers Pascal

Hey Pascal,

Thats what I thought, I was with the understanding that one of the parents died. I just didn't know he got them to breed again! cool.gif
