biggrin.gif YAY! he's swimming again. And no buddy 90 is too small, my tank is too small. With Cuda's it's not really relavent to assicate fish to tank size as you would other fish, these guys are wicked fast and at times very skittish. They need lots of room so if they do freak out they don't kill themselves by ramming the sides of the tank. What happened to my fish today is a perfect example of this, I just got lucky he lived through it. I'm in process of purchasing a custom made 240gallon so I no longer have to worry about instances like what beasty just went through. Kinda gotta attached to the little guy

Very late on all this. I think bare bottom is bad for cudas (one more place they can ram into by accident.

They're fine with sand or gravel.

I hope Beasty is doing better!

Acestrorhynchus falcatus has been seen spawning (photos are on the net by Frank Magellenes). There's now a nice video of this!

These guys do seem to show the typical males chasing a big female sort of characin breeding strategy. Very cool stuff.... I wonder if he raised any fry!

At that size I'd say you're right on with the 'yellow tail' idea.

Looks to be a true A. falcirostris.

Hopefully you experienced people still read this thread lol.

I had a few questions. Ive had small aquariums in the past and after seeing a friends oscar ive once again become interested in the hobby. Ive been doing quite a bit of researching and reading online and I would LOVE to have a FW barracuda tank, but not 100% sure its right for me.

ive been looking at 2 tanks a 5ft 100gal and a 6ft 125gal. Obviously the 6ft would be the better choice, but I do not have a permanent residence which means I will be moving at some point in time. That factor makes a smaller tank more appealing to me. On that note, does moving from one place to another affect these fish greatly? Im assuming i could transport them in a smaller tank.

My next question is would decorating the sides of the tank with taller plants prevent the fish from smashing their noses into the side of the tank? which might give me the ability to use the smaller tank.

Ive never had to deal with live feeders. I found a place that sells feeder platies.. would this be a suitable food source? how many feeders would be needed for 3 cudas per month?

the last obstacle would be having to tell the girlfriend she couldnt have any small cute fish LOL

edit* is there any special equipment i need? i would have a eheim e3 canister filter, heater, uv sterilizer(is it needed?)

The moving process is how I lost most of the cudas I've had sad.gif I dont know if the plant 'curtain' on the sides would be good or bad. Platies are a fish they go absolutely nuts for if you can get them. How often you feed is up to you, they can pig out or fast for days, even weeks (as adults).

No advice on the girlfriend! Equipment is otherwise same as for other fish (just keep that tank covered!!!).

Sorry for the late reply, I hate it when I miss these!!!
