Which fish in your collection do you consider to be rare? Which took the longest to find?

For me they are as follows:

4 Mahseers (each a different Tor sp.)
3 Hampala Barbs aka:Jungle Perch (1 Dispar 2 Macrolepidota)
4 Pristolepis marginata aka:Catopra
8 Heterotis niloticus aka: African Arowana
5 Lates Calcarifer aka: Barramundi
1 Hephaestus carbo aka:Coal Grunter
2 Zungaro zungaro aka:Jau Catfish

My huge Acanthicus adonis, which is somewhere around 20", I'm not going to haul him up out of there for measurement. As far as I know it's the biggest one owned by a member here.

iam rather fond of my giraffe cats :wub:not exactly rare,
but not ALL that common.

others/past/present
buffalo suckers, not a rare species but definally rare in aquariums wink.gif
8in chinese algae eater, rather rare at that size.
wild colored tench,it was a quest for these, and NOT a common
find in an aquarium.(i no longer have these.)
small sauger,it was tough to get these(from the wild)
goldfish/carp hybrid,not sought after by many happy.gif
crucian carp,RARE find and from wild american waters.
rudd and roach, rare find in new world aquariums, maybe any aquariums
and last but not least my quail back sucker, very cool imo and RARE
in home aquariums.

iam into weird/trash fish that others wouldnt even think of keeping tongue.gif

BTW-Shaolin,your building yourself a pretty impresive collection.iam a
BIG fan of ALL those fish listed, esspecially any rare cyprinid.

I had 3 Hydrolycus Scombroides. I saw them just that one time, they were all
around 5 inchers. I got them for only 8 bucks a piece. They grew to about 10"
and suddenly died bye2.gif

The rarest fish I have at the moment is a tie between my unidentified Rhom, which is only the size of a quarter but has color like none other that I've seen, and my unidentified sleeper goby. He looks like a marbled sleeper, but his sides are black. When he comes out at night, he's usually totally black. The guy said they came in from India. I'll try and post some pics.

Im proud of all the fish in my collection. I am an apartment dweller and
space being such a premium, i really dont have the space for something that would not excite me.

Its nothing special but i have 4 widebar dats , 2 rays ( marbled motoro and humerosa) a 12" black aro, a 15" flowerhorn (purple rose) and a 8" read pearl fh.

The bay area is filled with rare fishes , so I gotta say my 5" istlanum and 4" syno. multipunctatus are the two best catch for me @ $19 each. Everything else I own are always available around town. My next catch on the list will be one of those large black calvus.

Petenia Splendida, was rare til I met Jeff Rapps, although it is still pretty rare in Southern California. Most of the dealers that have them don't want to sell them. About 20 years ago, I also like to collect rare specimens. But now I just want to breed Splendidas and my three bichirs. Also have some P bass, and a bunch of goldfish feeders....
