Xtreme Foods from Florida asked me to photograph some African cichlids for there new label and website. As most may know, I don't keep or have African Cichlids. RIck Biro from the company solved that problem by sending me four boxes of show quality adult male African cichlids from his farm. I set up a special photo tank and have been doing a photo marathon on the lot.

I have to tell you, these are some beautiful fish. Really having a great time with the project. They were looking for something different...a more stylized photo. Here's a sample of what I've done thus far.

Thanks. No Calvus right now. I'm flying down to their farm in the next month or so to do a marathon photographing all of their stock. Now THAT'S gonna be a blast.

Beautiful specimens, and you can tell some real time & effort went into the shots, but ...

the processing of some of those shots makes them lose their "realness" and makes them appear somewhat fake. They are gorgeous shots, to be sure, but they don't appear natural anymore with the smoothing of lines and enhanced palette (or the real neat scaling effects). Just my 2 cents, and goodness knows I lack the requisite talent and patience to ever accomplish anything close to what you do with them, so please don't take it as a smear or criticism, but I would love to see some shots of them that are a bit more true-to-life. smile.gif It appears to me that all (short of the Labeotropheus) have been edited, but I could just as much be wrong as right!

Anyway, fantastically done!
