What could be wrong? It looks very stiff, trouble swimming. Tail is getting worse, a bit bloody. Like the skin is being peeled off... Weird, no other polypterus are sick

It looks like sepsis. You need a wide spectrum antibiotic. Keep you water parameters immaculate.

Sepsis is one of the hardest conditions to treat because not only are the bacteria protected by the fishes tissues and bloodstream, the internal organs of the fish are often so compromised that even if you COULD eradicate the bacterial invader, you would lose the fish to other complications. The problem with these types of cases is that the bacteria are inside the fishes' body and thus are quite safe from most water borne antibiotics. Therefore, feeding antibiotics, or injecting antibiotics are better choices than adding antibiotics to the water. But that is very hard to do, I couldn't even do this so you should get a wide spectrum strong antibiotic.

What is your ammonia, nitrite and nitrates? They can get this from poor water parameters and high nitrates.
